Project Profile: Church Spray Foam

We love to celebrate with happy customers! Here’s a note we recently received from St. Anthony Park United Church of Christ in St. Paul, MN, where we designed some new walls and a ceiling in their attic to encapsulate all of their duct work with spray foam.

“I want to let you know the church’s experience this past heating season with the new attic insulation and with new boilers. Our natural gas usage was down by 34% for the heating season. That’s a huge improvement. Thanks for your work through our complicated project.” #EnergySavings #Insulation #SprayFoam #WeInsulateYou

Project Profile: Duplex Insulation in HiLo Denver, CO

Kinzler Construction Services recently insulated this duplex in HiLo Denver. The contractor encountered several challenges which our expert team helped solve quickly in order to keep the inspectors happy and the project on schedule.

Closed cell spray foam was used on the ceiling in 2’x8′ cavities that needed to achieve an R49. Kinzler sprayed foam insulation in a vaulted ceiling that ran the length of the house.
Because this is a duplex, the builder was particularly concerned about sound transfer. Our team suggested noise-reducing options and mineral wool batt insulation was selected to place in common walls. Blown-In-Blanket (BIBS) was used on others walls where sound transmission was not a worry.

Our team of local professionals in Denver will:

  • Listen to fully understand your project scope & schedule
  • Complete the work to manufacturers specifications
  • Double check 100% of work orders

Kinzler Helps Renovate 107-Year-Old Minneapolis Home for Net-Zero Performance

Kinzler Construction Services was recently hired as the insulation contractor to help renovate a chilly Minneapolis home to be net-zero in energy with no sacrifice in attractiveness, space, or comfort.

This renovation was one of the first in Minneapolis to use a relatively non-invasive method of insulating the foundation wall from the outside. Kinzler Construction Services removed a 4-inch-wide slice of dirt all the way down to the footings, then inserted a 1-inch foam sheet and 3 inches of sprayed closed-cell foam. The net insulating effect for the basement was R-30 while removing very little dirt.

Kinzler Supports Local Homeless & Disabled Veterans

Nate Johnson, Kinzler Construction Services Sales Representative, presents a donation to Tim Combs of Americans for Independent Living Director.

Kinzler Construction Services is pleased to be part of a project aimed at ending homelessness among veterans in the Waterloo, IA area.

Local non-profit group “Americans for Independent Living” opened the Veterans Transitional House at 420 E 9th St in Waterloo earlier this spring. The home houses three men, each with his own room and a shared living room, kitchen and bathroom. The goal is to allow the men to live in the home for about a year, helping them find permanent housing and jobs.

Kinzler Construction Services installed insulation into the home, donating half of the total cost of the project back to Americans for Independent Living.

“Kinzler Construction Services is a huge supporter of our nation’s brave veterans,” says Craig Coder, Distribution General Manager for Kinzler’s Waterloo and Cedar Rapids branch locations. Coder is also a Captain with the Iowa Army National Guard. “Kinzler actively seeks out National Guard soldiers and prior military soldiers as employees. And we are proud to do our part to help eradicate the homeless veteran population here in Black Hawk County.”

There are about 30 homeless veterans in Waterloo on any given night according to the Black Hawk County Veteran Affairs Commission.

Kinzler Solves Problem at Historic Fire Station with Gypsum Concrete

Cedar Rapids Historic Fire Station

What was once Cedar Rapids, Iowa’s first Central Fire Station (built in 1917), turned Science Station, is now getting a remodel and Kinzler Construction Services is on the ground floor. The Cedar Rapids Gypsum Concrete Division worked with Aspect Architecture to come up with a solution to make this historical building ready for new tenants.

The problem is there was no uniformity in the sub floor. Gypsum concrete was a great option for leveling this floor. Gypsum concrete has a number of advantages including that it’s fire resistant and lightweight. Though it weighs less than the average square foot of regular concrete, it still offers the same compressive strength, and has the ability to be laid faster than regular poured concrete.

Gypsum concrete depths throughout this structure differed from 3/4″ all the way to 8”. When finished, the floor was completely level and smooth.

Kinzler Construction Services is your best choice for gypsum concrete installation. Learn more about gypsum concrete and see if it’s right for your next project at www.insulation.net/GypsumConcrete.

Kinzler Construction Services Insulates Minneapolis Graves’ Uptown Luxury Condo

The team at Kinzler’s Minneapolis Headquarters, located in Fridley, MN, recently finished insulating a six-story, nine-unit condominium project by developer Jim Graves. It’s being built by Doran Construction.

The expert Kinzler crews used Dow CM2045 spray foam for the job. This product ensured 100% coverage with no voids and the customer was impressed. In fact, a representative from Dow inspected our installation, commenting to the General Contractor that Kinzler’s crews went above and beyond industry standards for quality control and attention to detail.
